6.3.3 Marital status Marital status of women is another factor affecting the decisions of women in economic participation. In Pakistan, married women are less likely to participate in economic activities. The opposite is true for the widow or divorced women. The results of a study conducted by Z. F. Naqvi (World Bank, 2002) about how do women decide to work in Pakistan indicate that married women are 4.2% less likely to participate in economic activity. However, divorced women are more likely to participate in economic activities by 5.2%. Being a divorcee is also another significant factor, which positively increases the possibility of women’s economic participation by 16%. Naqvi, Z.
